As a prelude to Solar Asset Management LATAM (17-18 October 2017), we hosted a complimentary webinar in collaboration with GTM Research and Antuko. During this webinar GTM Research Solar Analyst Manan Parikh and Antuko’s Head of Market Modelling Ignacio Mena went in-depth on the various high-potential business models for solar development in Latin America - amongst them the attractive stabilized price segment (PMGD) in Chile. They also addressed some of the main challenges for solar development, such as grid interconnection issues and financing hurdles.

|Manan Parikh is a Solar Analyst for GTM Research covering global downstream markets with a focus on Latin America and the Caribbean. Prior to GTM, his work has been extensively research based, centering upon alternative fuels infrastructure development and Low Carbon Fuels Standard (LCFS) policy models for the Schatz Energy Research Center and UC Berkeley in Northern California. In California, he was also an ambassador to start-up teams within the Clean Tech Open accelerator as well as a consultant to DOE SunShot Catalyst Award winner, PVComplete. In Washington, DC he worked on biomass policy at the American Council On Renewable Energy. He is an alumnus of The University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry, as well as the DC-based Clean Energy Leadership Institute in its inaugural class.|

|Industrial Civil Engineer specialized on Electricity from P.U. Católica and postgraduate in “Economic dispatch coordination in hydro-thermic power systems and NCRE integration” from U. de Chile. Ignacio is responsible for Antuko’s market modelling and price projection activity where he advises both internal and external clients strategic decisions regarding PPA contracts, project transactions and structured financing. Prior to joining Antuko, Ignacio worked for 2 years as a consultant for Electricity Markets at Systep, where he executed various technical and economic studies regarding the energy sector.|

|Christian Santana is a Civil Mechanical Engineer from the University of Chile and has extensive experience in non-conventional renewable energies (NCRE) and air pollution. From 2002 to 2010, at the National Energy Commission first and then the Ministry of Energy, he contributed to all implementation stages for NCRE development in Chile, including the regulatory framework design for NCRE and PMGD integration in the Chilean electricity market, the definition of instruments to promote private investment in NCRE projects, and the generation of information to guide investments and policies in the field.
In the past, he worked for 9 years in the National Environment Commission, designing and implementing regulations for air pollution control in the Metropolitan Region and other cities in Chile.
Since March 2014, he is the Head of Division of Renewable Energy at the Ministry of Energy.

|Juan Carlos Araneda is Electrical Engineer from the Technical University Federico Santa María, Valparaíso, Chile (1983) and has a Master of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manchester (2002).
Araneda has extensive experience in the electricity sector. For the last 30 years, he has worked in the electricity distributor Chilquinta, the power generation company Colbún and the transmission company Transelec. Moreover, he has been a teacher in several academic institutions.
Currently, Juan Carlos is Transmission Planning Manager at the National Electricity Coordination Unit (Coordinador Eléctrico Nacional).
He is also Senior Member of IEEE, member of CIGRE and President of the Chilean Committee. He has participated in the international Review Committee C1 (System Development and Economics).

|Mark Harris is responsible for SMBC's project finance business in Chile. In this capacity, Mark has raised financing for over $4Bn worth of power, infrastructure and mining assets in Chile, and provides advisory in bringing equity to local assets. On the solar side, Mark has closed on 4 utility scale solar financings in Chile in the last two years, including the latest one in June 2017 as Financial Advisor to a 100MW solar project in the SING. Prior to relocating to Chile, Mark worked in the Project Finance team for SMBC in New York covering the LatAm region, and for the Energy team at BBVA covering North America. Mark holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Chicago.|

|Sebastian Falkenberg started at Laborelec in 2006 working for the Industrial Applications department after his Master in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at the University of Edinburgh.
He has executed Energy audits for the industry throughout Belgium, Germany and France.
Since 2007, he has become active in the field of solar energy, taking part in the technical support activities for ENGIE Department of Research and Technology, in order to actively support ENGIE’s Solar activities and strategy.
He was involved in the development and on site for the construction of the Belgian Antarctic Research station “Princesse Elisabeth”, inaugurated in 2008.
In 2011, he was based part-time in Germany to set up an office in Wuppertal and deploy energy-efficiency services in Germany.
From 2010-2013 he worked as Project Manager for the development of a CSP plant in Chile.
In 2014 he has set up ENGIE Lab LATAM, ENGIE’s first R&D facility in Latin America of which he is its current acting General Manager.
He is fluent in German, French, Dutch, Spanish and English and proficient in Italian and Catalan.

|Ana Verena Lima is the South America lead analyst at Bloomberg New Energy Finance. She focuses on power markets, looking at policy and regulation, clean energy financing, strategies and future trends for Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay, among others. Ana Verena previously worked at Itau BBA, looking at project finance for Brazilian power projects. She graduated from Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) with a BS in Industrial Engineering.|
